How silly are some fans? Would you go this far to get a player for your team?

I just heard on the radio this Met Fan who told the announcers that he has a check for $1000 that he's going to send to the NY Mets. He asked fellow Met Fans if they can send between 50- 100 dollars to the Mets b/c he said if money is an issue that Met Fans will donate in order to get Manny Ramirez. Unbelievable. This economy is going to heck & this fan cares more about donating his money so that the Mets can get Manny Ramirez. What sad priorities some fans have. And yes i would say the same thing if it was a Yankee Fan doing it so it's not a double standard.
