Is my sons choice of a lovey strange?

I know all children generally have a lovey and up to about a week ago my sons pacifier was his. He is almost 29 months and I felt it was time to get rid of it during the day. He has been doing great but now he has chosen a new lovey. His hot wheels car. He does have his favorites but there is never a time that goes by that he does not have one near. He plays with pretty much anything with wheels really but he loves his hot wheels. He sleeps with one, insists on taking one with us when we go out, plays with it in the bathtub. Has anyone ever heard of a kid choosing a car as a lovey? I thought they usually chose soft things. Let me know what you think. :)
